How does my donation help FACT? Your contribution enables FACT to improve the lives of farm animals. Nearly 80% of the money we raise annually is used for FACT's programs to make farms a healthier and more humane place to raise animals. Financial support from foundations is important, but the majority of FACT's income comes from individual donors. This ongoing and generous support is what enables FACT to accomplish so much. In 2006 we made significant progress in several areas. For example: FACT launched its Humane & Sustainable Dairy Project, a multi-year project that will test achievable steps dairy producers can take to improve the welfare of their cows. FACT, in conjunction with the Keep Antibiotics Working coalition, facilitated the adoption of purchasing policies specifying reduced antibiotic meats by several national food service companies. FACT completed research that documented the poor health of pigs on factory farms and presented these findings to an international organic farming conference. Activities such as these require a host of additional steps to be successful. Your donation helps FACT research the scientific literature, visit with humane and sustainable farmers, meet with federal officials in Washington, DC and elsewhere, build and lead coalitions, present at government hearings, create and distribute educational materials, and provide technical assistance with farmers markets, etc. Individual donations make all of these important steps possible.
